"Glee" cast member Naya Rivera, who plays Santana on the FOX hit recently shared news that singer-actress Demi Lovato has signed up to appear on the musical series in a role that will connect her to Rivera's character.
"She's playing my love interest, so I'm very, very excited about that," Rivera told MTV News on the red carpet at Sunday's VMAs. "We get to sing a song together. It's gonna be good. I'm excited to work with her. We're bringing her to the dark side. Well, she comes in in a Beatles episode, so [we're singing] a Beatles song. I'm excited."
Rivera is singing off-screen as well. Her new single, "Sorry," is being released on iTunes next week and her debut album will follow, although there's no official release for it yet.
"I teased a little bit of the cover art last week," she said. "It's a personal thing and I'm really looking forward to people getting to see Naya outside of Santana on 'Glee.'"
Meanwhile, the cast has also filmed a tribute episode to their late co-star, Cory Monteith, who died July 13 of a drug overdose.
"We've been shooting it," Rivera said of the episode. "It's horrible. So many, so many [memories]. He was an amazing guy and I definitely miss him."
The season premiere of "Glee" airs Sept. 26 and the tribute episode to Monteith will air Oct. 10.
