Action News helps man get car down payment back

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Buying a new car is usually a fun experience but one Las Vegas man said his recent car purchase was a nightmare.

He reached out to Channel 13's Call for Action volunteers for help.

Herman Garcia said it all started last month when he put $1,000 on a new SUV. It turns out, the new vehicle needed transmission work though and days went by with no answers.

Garcia said it took nearly two weeks for his new SUV to be returned but a few days later, the phone rang.

It was the dealer and they wanted the SUV back because his application for financing had been turned down.

After going to the dealership and turning in the keys. Garcia asked for his money back. But, the dealership would not give it to him.

That is when he called Channel 13 and he got his $1,000 back.

Consumers should always make sure they carefully read the contract when buying a new care. Make sure you understand your rights when it comes to repairs or returns.

You can also file a complaint against any car dealer who you feel didn't treat you fairly with the DMV.
