New scam involves Affordable Care Act
We have a Contact 13 consumer alert about a new scam targeting seniors.
It revolves around the Affordable Care Act. Theives are calling seniors, claiming to be government workers pre-enrolling people for health coverage. To do that, they ask for your social security number and bank account number.
The Federal Trade Commission, Better Business Bureau, and AARP are reminding seniors that no one can sign up for any benefits right now. And never give your personal information out over the phone, to someone you don't know.
