Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- There is some incredible art on display all month at the JW Marriott and it's drawing attention to sick children who rely on St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
They are giant, beautiful sculptures scattered throughout the JW Marriott. Each one painted to represent the heart of a child.
Artist Don Michael's features a storm with images of a child's youth, "I have balloons which represents boundless opportunity still available to them. One image shows a child on a swing. The exuberance, the love, the hope they have even in this storm of life."
The works are purchased by generous Las Vegans who then donate them back to St. Jude's. Though the hospital is located in Tennessee, this collection is unique to Las Vegas and travels all over our city, raising awareness.
Dorit Schwartz heads up a local chapter raising money for St. Jude's, "There are patients here in Vegas who visited the hospital. And the hospital treats patients outside of the hospital too."
No family ever pays St. Jude for the care their child receives and though the hospital is located in Tennessee, there are patients right here in Las Vegas.
Artists like Don Michael never forget that, "I believe in what they are doing to help and treat children. It's exciting to me to know what their research has done over the years."
You are welcome to visit the JW Marriott and pick up a map at the front desk and wander the property to see all 12 works.
The entire collection will be on display there through the month.
