Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- This Saturday night, the Boulder City Police will escort Santa Claus to the 7th annual Night of Lights at St. Jude's Ranch for Children. The public is invited.

Year round, volunteers work in the mail room at St. Jude's Ranch for Children sorting cards. This time of year it will be Christmas cards.

Volunteer Barb Morris said, "People send checks in their cards. We need more. And we sort them."

In addition to the checks, the cards themselves are a gift to St. Jude's. Christine Spadafor is the CEO of St. Jude's Ranch for Children, "Around the holidays it's not uncommon to get 40 bins of cards per day from all over the world. Children remove the fronts. Cut them. And re glue them on recycled paper."

But this massive effort requires a lot of volunteers. Barb Morris has been volunteering here for 18 years. She keeps coming back because she knows this place transforms the lives of abused, neglected and homeless children.

Barb said, "Growing up the best gift my parents ever gave me was a sense of security and I feel like the youngsters here on the ranch through no fault of their own they are here. They didn't get that. But while they are here, I feel St. Jude's gives them that sense of security."

You can lend your support by attending Saturday's annual Night of Lights with entertainment, food, games, face painting and a silent auction fundraiser.

The event is taking place 5-8 p.m.
