Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- This is a busy week for students at Calvary Chapel Spring Valley Christian School.  They raised the money and then rolled up their sleeves to package 10,000 meals for hungry people living in the southwest part of town.

In a gymnasium full of students, these kids were focused on one thing. "We are making food for 10,000 people."
The meals are simple -- macaroni and cheese enriched with soy. But folks at the church's food pantry say this is exactly the kind of meal they need. So for weeks, students have been fundraising and parents have been planning for this day. Mom Camie Noll says, "We are a Christian school and we are training our children up to care about others. By having their hands on during the process, it's not just about getting money. They actually get to be a part of blessing the families in need."
Every single student in the school from preschool to high school rotated in all day long t package the meals. Older students helping the younger ones.
11th grader Joey says, "My friends love to do this. Everyone here at Calvary is all gung ho about serving."
Albertsons heard about what these kids were doing and showed up with thousands of cans of food to add to the pantry. Manager Scot Evans says, "I think it's outstanding, learning something like this at a young age. It's an excellent program to be involved with."
Inside the gym, donations were piling up from the students too. All of the food will feed neighbors in the southwest part of town where these kids go to school and learn hands on to care. Kindergartener Mason says, "So the other kids in the town that don't have any food that they could eat."
When the day was done, the students surpassed their goal. They had enough supplies to package 10,000 or 110 meals in all.
