Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- All over our city, people are performing amazing acts of kindness. Many of them Action News viewers. We ran a story weeks ago about AAOK -- the organization that matches needy families with generous ones. At that time we featured the Pazera family. Viewers saw the story and stepped up to deliver an early Christmas.
For the first time, the Pazera family's Christmas tree is full of presents underneath. Alice Pazera can't believe it. "I think that my kids and I are so blessed by AAOK."
Alice is raising her 4 grandkids. This year, Sal and Irene saw our story about AAOK and decided to adopt Alice's family for Christmas. Sal Napoli says, "For me, I never had any children. So this is new for me. Something that I was missing. So I like the whole family thing."
The kids each get to open one gift on Christmas Eve. The rest will wait for Christmas morning. It may be even more fun for Irene McGuire, who adopted them with her boyfriend Sal. "This experience has been overwhelming. Overwhelming. I think a lot of people take for granted what they have on a daily basis and it really puts things into perspective."
saw our story too and wanted to bring miniature horses to meet Kamri, who had never even seen a horse before today. "I feel very nervous and happy because I really want to keep the horses."
Kamri can't keep the horses, but she will get to enjoy free riding lessons for a year.
Sydney Knott is the founder of Horses 4 Heroes
. "We just love sharing our love of horses with those who love horses."
It's especially moving for Cowboy Bill, the ranch manager at Horses4Heroes who was once homeless with his two daughters at Christmas time. "Being able to witness this and be part of it makes it come full circle."
AAOK is helping more than 100 families around the valley this Christmas thanks to the generosity of people like you. If you missed out, don't worry. Christmas comes next year and AAOK
will be at it again.
