NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) -- North Las Vegas police are investigating a fatal accident that shut down traffic on Lake Mead Boulevard.
Investigators say a 26-year-old Las Vegas woman was killed early Monday when she lost control of a Nissan she was driving at a high rate of speed and struck a wall along westbound Lake Mead Boulevard near Simmons Street.
She was ejected from the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene. Traffic was shut down in both directions of the boulevard for several hours.
Speed, alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt appear to be factors in the crash.
The name of the victim has not been released. This is the 10th traffic-related fatality in North Las Vegas this year.
