Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Hollis Henry Corbin, age 41, has been arrested for the murder of his roommate Gary Farmer in late December.

According to a police report, Corbin called police to report a dead body at an apartment on Paradise Road on Dec. 27.

Farmer was in frail health before his death but patrol officers decided that further investigation was needed and homicide detectives were summoned.

Corbin told police he had found Farmer unresponsive and did not know what happened to him.

The coroner determined Farmer died of blunt force trauma.

During the investigation, detectives learned that fights between the two roommates were not uncommon. Four people claimed to have witnessed or heard of problems between the two men.

The first witness told police about one incident when Corbin allegedly threatened to chop Farmer up during an argument about money.

The second witness told police that Farmer had shown that person injuries allegedly caused by Farmer. The injuries included forearm cuts supposedly caused by a machete and mouth abrasions caused by a stick. Farmer also claimed to have been choked by Corbin.

The third witness told police that Corbin was verbally abusive to Farmer and would intimidate Farmer by standing near him while sharpening a machete or rock.

Farmer's son says that his father told him that he was being abused while Farmer was in the hospital and showed him bruising and cuts on his arm.

In addition, the ex-wife of Farmer told police that she was told by friends that Farmer was forced to urinate and defecate in a cat litter box.

Police were able to gather evidence from the men's apartment including a machete with an apparent broken handle. They also found a rock on a bedroom table. Other evidence also proved that Corbin misled police about his whereabouts on the day Farmer died.

Corbin was arrested on Jan. 18. He is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center.
