Teen files lawsuit against Elko Detention Center after alleged abuse
Elko, NV (KTNV) -- A teenager has filed a lawsuit after alleged abuse at the Elko Detention Center.
The teen said he was badly beaten, tied up, and left in isolation. Then, he was denied medical attention even though he was bleeding profusely.
His doctors are calling the damage from the abuse "irreversible" and said he lost some vision in his left eye. He also suffers from night terrors.
Allegations surfaced last month of juvenile inmates at the detention center being hogtied and assaulted by correctional officers. The use of hobble restraints were suspended in December.
The teen was at the detention center for grand theft auto.
