Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The suspect in the fatal hit-and-run crash on Wednesday evening is now in custody.

49-year-old Edward Barber turned himself into police at around 12:35 p.m. on Thursday.

The crash happened near Arville and Charleston.

There's a square hole at Flex Cocktail Lounge, after the bad crash caused a car to smash into the wall killing the elderly passenger.

"We get the occasional fender bender, but nothing to this degree," Flex General Manager, Todd Tauber, said.

According to police, a vehicle carrying a 75-year-old mother and her 54-year-old son collided with an SUV while making a left turn off Charleston onto Arville.

The SUV slammed into the passenger side of the car where the mother was sitting. She was taken to UMC where she died. Her son is in the hospital in fair condition.

"It was a horrible accident," Tauber said. "My staff fortunately wasn't hurt, none of our customers were hurt, but we still feel horrible for the parties involved."

Surveillance video from Flex shows customers get up quickly to get outside to help. That's when witnesses said the driver of the SUV, later identified as Barber, ducked into the bar.

"He came in, said he wanted to see if anyone was injured inside," Tauber said. "He kind of walked back and forth a little bit and then made a bee line for an alternate exit."

Tauber said customers saw him running down Charleston.

Barber now faces several charges including duty to stop at the scene of a crash involving death, driving without valid license and proof of insurance required.
