Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A new shade structure is going up at a popular skatepark in Las Vegas, and it's all thanks to a local fifth grade student.
10-year-old Dalton Taylor requested the project in an email to Councilman Steve Ross last May.
The Betsy Rhodes Elementary School student was a frequent skatepark user and thought some shade might improve Sunny Springs Skatepark for everyone.
"I think it's cool because you can have someone that will help you, but make you feel good making it a better park," said Taylor.
The project should be finished sometime this spring.
The total project is estimated at $80,000 with costs to be paid from the Ward 6 Residential Construction Tax Fund.
