Repeat offender uses fake gun to rob stores
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Not long after getting out of prison for robbery with a deadly weapon, a local man is back behind bars being charged with the same thing.
Police say that Kashun Boyd is a violent criminal who struck again while out on parole.
According to investigators, he was targeting convenience stores in the northeast area of the valley.
In each case, Boyd would hold up a gun and threaten the clerk behind the counter. He would demand money and cigarettes.
It was a lot of risk for little reward and eventually he got caught.
When detectives passed around surveillance photos, an officer in the Property Crimes Unit positively identified Boyd from a previous case.
It wasn't until after Boyd was taken into custody that Las Vegas police realized that he was using a fake gun.
Police say that is becoming a common occurrence in the valley and that it can have unintended consequences.
Boyd has been charged with three counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, three counts of burglary with a firearm, and unrelated burglary charges.
