Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The suspect in the recent robbery at the Bellagio hotel-casino has been positively identified by police.

He has been identified as 34-year-old Scott Carmitchel of Kansas. He has refused to cooperate in any way with the investigation and was combative with officers throughout the booking process.

He has been charged with robbery, burglary, grand larceny and two counts of battery on a police officer.

Carmitchel had originally refused to tell police his real name and said his name was Scott Rice but couldn't provide his social security number, phone number or address.

On July 25, police said Carmitchel approached a Bellagio cashier's cage, placed a small backpack on the counter, unzipped the bag and removed a firearm.

According to police paperwork, he pointed the gun directly at the cashier and demanded money. She complied and Carmitchel got away with $43,500.

He was later arrested at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino when he was reported to police.

Surveillance video showed prostitutes going in and out of his hotel room. They were detained by police and had cash that was bound by straps with the label "Bellagio Count Team."

A search warrant of his room found $10,000 in cash, a BB gun, a backpack and high-end clothes.

Police said Carmitchel has a criminal record, and even skipped out on his parole in May. His bail was set at $84,000 during his first court appearance on Tuesday.
