Owner of Heart Attack Grill gives bizarre interview, displays ashes of customer

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Jon Basso, owner of Fremont Street's Heart Attack Grill, recently gave a rather bizarre interview to Bloomberg TV's show "In The Loop."

Basso told the TV show host that he would not apologize for the restaurant's menu which features a 10,000 calories burger and that he admits that the food is bad for diners and that it might kill people.

The interview did not become truly weird though until Basso held up a bag that he claimed contained the cremated remains of a person who died from a heart attack at his restaurant.

However, he did not identify the person or say when he or she passed away.

On Feb. 11, 2012, a customer suffered what was reported to be an apparent heart attack while eating a Triple Bypass Burger.

A year later, a regular patron died of an apparent heart attack while waiting at a bus stop in front of the restaurant in downtown Las Vegas.

At that time, Basso denied any responsibility for the customer's death.

Basso seems to be on some sort of crusade to spread the word that fast-food restaurants are not honest and argues that he "tells the truth."

He also says in the interview that he would like to wake up one morning and open the door and have no one ever enter his restaurant again.

Basso is known for wearing a doctor's outfit and the servers at his restaurant wear nurses outfits.

Even customers are expected to put on hospital gowns before being allowed to order.

The restaurant has been featured the Travel Channel's "Extreme Pig-Outs" and "All You Can Eat" on the History Channel.

The restaurant is located on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas.
