Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- According to Las Vegas police, a valley mother is dead following a crash at the intersection of Tropical Parkway and Durango Drive at about 11:09 a.m. on Sunday.
Police said her two kids were in the car with her; 18-years-old and 16-years-old. The two were taken to University Medical Center with severe injuries.
Witnesses told police the driver of a pickup ran a red light at the intersection, plowing into a Ford Mustang. Police said the driver of the pickup was 17-years-old.
The collision killed the Mustang's driver, a 42-year-old woman.
Another sedan was hit during that collision, but that driver is okay.
Art Evans lives nearby and told Action News, "I was sitting by the computer. I heard a loud crash and then I heard three more crashes so my wife and I got up and went in the backyard and looked over the wall and we saw cars pretty much spewed everywhere."
It's unknown whether the 17-year-old truck driver was speeding. However, Evans said speeding and red-light running have become problematic in that northwest valley area.
Police don't believe the driver of the pickup was impaired. He reportedly cooperated with authorities during their on-scene investigation.
The intersection was shut down for approximately six hours.
