North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The coroner has identified the male victim in Saturday's attempted murder-suicide case as Ronnie Lee Boal.
A dispute between an estranged couple sent a young wife to University Medical Center with gunshot injuries and ended with the husband dead by his own hands.
At about 12:08 p.m. Saturday, dispatch received a report of shots fired in a home in the 3500 block of Cantura Crest Court.
When officers arrived, they were confronted by 67-year-old Ronnie Lee Boal armed with a handgun.
As soon as the officers commanded the man to drop the weapon, he killed himself with a gunshot to the head.
Officers found the man's 23-year-old wife a few doors west of the home. She was suffering from at least one gunshot wound and was transported to UMC Trauma.
The preliminary investigation indicates the husband and wife were separated. The woman went to her former home to exchange some sort of property.
A dispute erupted and the husband shot the wife. She made it into the front yard before collapsing.
A neighbor, armed with a handgun, rescued the woman from the yard and moved her to safety.
Arriving officers confronted another armed man across the street from the scene. Believing him to be the shooter, they disarmed him.
As the officers searched the man, the true shooter appeared in the door of the house.
There was no one else in the home when the incident occurred. No force was used by any officers.
The identity and cause of death of the decedent will be released by the Clark County coroner's office.
