Nevada inmate dies in cell

The Nevada Department of Corrections reported a High Desert State Prison inmate died on Sunday, Aug. 24.

Jonathan Van Hook, 40, was found unresponsive in his cell. After attempting resuscitation, staff pronounced the inmate dead.

Van Hook was serving 10 years to life with parole for second degree murder.

Officials believe Van Hook committed suicide. A formal autopsy and investigation are pending.
