Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- While police continue to search for two persons of interest in the murder of 27-year-old Robert Matthews, his girlfriend is speaking out about her devastating loss.

Secoya Hill said Matthews played with his son Noah every morning, "Family was his everything. His family kept him going every day."

But now Noah will grow up without his father. Police said two men killed him Wednesday night on Michael Way.

Secoya said their son still looks for his dad every day, "Every time I look at our son, I see him and I think about all the good times that we had."

Secoya said the former semi-pro football player and father of three was planning their big wedding, a move to Texas and a job in real estate.

"He wanted to show his two boys you don't need to be on the streets. You can make money the right way," added Secoya.

She said he was on his way home to Northpointe Apartments from the nearby Circle K when two men took his money and jewelry, then shot him.

Two men are now wanted for questioning. They left the same store minutes before Matthews was shot.

Secoya said, "I don't understand why these guys did this to him. He was just going home then he was coming to my house that night."

There is a memorial that now marks the spot where Matthews was shot. One of his friends was with him as he was dying on  the sidewalk. He was able to share Matthews final words with Secoya.

"Robert was telling him that he was going to make it and he was thinking about us and his kids."

But now Secoya hopes the two men responsible for taking her boyfriend's life will pay for what they did, "They took away a great man. I hope the police find them because Roberts needs justice."

If you have any information about the two persons of interest, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
