Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A 24-year-old male was killed at about 10 p.m. Thursday after his motorcycle collided with a car at Lamb Boulevard and Alexander Road.

According to police, the man was riding his 2007 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Lamb and was going through the intersection on a green light.

A 1997 Toyota Corolla traveling east on Alexander Road failed to stop at the red light. The motorcyclist crashed into the car.

The driver of the Toyota did not stop and left the scene of the crash. The car was located a short lime later about 1/2 a mile from the scene. It was unoccupied.

The motorcyclist was killed by the crash.

The Clark County coroner's office has identified him as Jesus Vizcarra of Las Vegas.

Police were able to track down the owner of the car who told them that the vehicle was stolen. Police are investigating that claim and looking for person who was driving the car.

This is the third motorcyclist killed this week.

A 28-year-old father of two also died when he collided with a truck Thursday afternoon.

In that case, witnesses told police that the motorcyclist ran the red light. Police say the number of deadly motorcycle crashes is up from last year at this time and they are warning riders to be extra careful.

"As a motorcycle rider, you need to make yourself more visible and you need to be more vigilant on the roadways to make sure that people know you're there.  Don't assume they know you're there," says Sgt. Richard Strader with LVMPD.

Another motorcycle rider was killed on Wednesday near Sahara Avenue and Buffalo Drive.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at 702-828-3317 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

The death of the motorcyclist on Thursday night is the 79th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction this year.
