Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A 15-year-old teenager is dead after a moped crash Thursday night near Lake Mead and Nellis Boulevards.
According to Las Vegas police, the moped may have been hit by a vehicle, which left the scene.
The teenager was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 20-year-old man, who was a passenger on the moped, was transported later to the hospital because he was showing signs of a severe concussion.
The crash, which happened shortly before 8:30 p.m., is under investigation. It happened at the intersection of Ringe Lane and Meikle Lane. Authorities believe the moped was traveling westbound on Meikle Lane and the vehicle was traveling southbound on Ringe Lane.
Police said they currently don't have enough evidence to search for the potential hit-and-run driver.
Metro reports the 15-year-old driver should not have been operating the moped.
The Clark County Coroner's Office will release the name of the teenager after relatives have been notified.
This is the 112th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas this year.
