Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police have made an arrest following a weekend homicide case.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. on March 15, patrol officers responded with medical personnel to an apartment located in the 3000 block of South Nellis Boulevard to investigate a report of an unresponsive female.
Medical personnel transported the female to the Sunrise Trauma Center where she was later pronounced dead.
A male, later identified as 26-year-old Edward Edgerton, remained at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicated Edgerton and the deceased female were in a dating relationship and they had been involved in a physical altercation prior to the arrival of police.
Edgerton told police the two had an argument about text messages she received from an ex-boyfriend, and that she later collapsed in the shower. He later told police he struck the woman several times with a belt, and pinned her beneath him on the bed.
As a result of the investigation, Edgerton was arrested and transported to the Clark County Detention Center where he was charged with one count of open murder.
According to the arrest report, the victim has been identified as 24-year-old Tyanna Reynolds of Las Vegas. The Clark County Coroner’s Office said she died from multiple blunt force injuries.
