Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The officer involved in the Sunday shooting at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino has been identified.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department identified the officer as 54-year-old Bernard Plaskett.
Plaskett has been employed with Metro since 1992. He is currently assigned to the Gang Crimes Bureau.
Officer Plaskett has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this event.
Plaskett was off-duty when the incident happened Sunday night.
He was at the hotel with his wife to visit some friends and was unloading packages from his car in the loading zone.
A man had climbed into his car, and Plaskett claimed he tried to get the man to exit the car three times. He shot the man after he saw him make a move for something in the car.
The man was shot in the wrist. Police said he then got out of the car and tried to run away. He was detained by hotel security.
His injuries were non-life threatening.
