Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Former UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian has been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
A ceremony was held this weekend in Springfield, Massachusetts.
It's the culmination of the greatest careers ever seen in basketball.
One of Tarkanian's former players was at the ceremony and described what it meant to have him inducted, "I'm going to give him a big hug and I'm going to take this joy from being here today."
Tarkanian and 11 others were inducted as part of the 2013 class.
Gov. Brian Sandoval issued this statement following the ceremony:
"Coach Tarkanian is a Nevada legend and I congratulate him on his induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame. A father and husband, Jerry is beloved by players, fans and UNLV. Coach Tarkanian led UNLV to four Final Fours and one national championship, all while leaving an indelible impression upon Nevada. Kathleen and I extend our best wishes to Coach Tarkanian and his family on this well deserved honor."
