Gamers test out new Xbox One at Microsoft store opening

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The lines were long, but gamers thought it was worth the wait.

Hundreds lined up early Thursday morning to make sure they were among the first in line for the new Microsoft store inside Fashion Show Mall.

Inside the mall, Microsoft had set up four Xbox One game stations where customers waiting to get into the store could try out the gaming system that doesn't even go on sale to the public until midnight on Nov. 22.

For Brice Mack, it was enough to get him to the mall hours before the stores even opened. He got a chance to play Forza V and said he loved the way the graphics looked and was impressed by the Xbox One. He planned to brag to his friends.

Another reason so many people waited for the store to open was because Microsoft planned to hand out free "meet and greet" tickets for Thursday's Pitbull concert in Las Vegas.

Mitchell Student, a huge fan, said that he started camping out outside of Fashion Show on Wednesday at 11 a.m. to make sure that he got one of those tickets.

The Microsoft store didn't officially open until noon. When it did, customers were welcomed inside the store, located near Macy's men's department.

Store workers gave out high-fives to people coming in to check out the Windows phones, notebooks, desktop computers and Surface Pro 2 displays. The store employs about 45 workers.

Store manager Douglas Meier said this is Microsoft's first full-line retail store in Nevada. He said Las Vegas was an ideal location because the city attracts international visitors and it has a lot of tech-savvy locals.
