Flash flood watch in effect for Southern Nevada

By Joyce Lupiani. CREATED Aug 30, 2013

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It is raining again in the Las Vegas valley.

According to the KTNV weather team, scattered thunderstorms are possible today through Sunday.

Portions of northwest Arizona, California and Southern Nevada are currently under a flash flood watch. That watch will be in effect from 11 a.m. today to 11 p.m.

Areas in the watch include Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Death Valley National Park, eastern Mojave desert, Las Vegas valley, northeast Clark County, southern Clark County, the Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon area, western Clark County and southern Nye County.

Significant moisture in the air could result in showers and thunderstorms developing across the area, mainly this afternoon and evening.

1-2 inches of rain is possible in the mountains.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
