Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The 22-year-old woman who was charged with involuntary manslaughter after a crash that killed a child appeared in a Las Vegas courtroom Friday morning.
A court date was set for Sept. 11 and the judge set bail at $70,000.
The crash happened July 3 on Interstate 15. Carrion was driving with six children in her SUV when she over-corrected and rolled the SUV near the D Street exit.
Her 9-year-old niece was killed and the other children were injured. Three of them, ages 4, 6 and 9, were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the SUV.
The single mother is also facing other charges including child abuse, neglect and driving without a license.
Attorney Bret Whipple said his client was cut off by a black car and that is what caused the crash. The attorney also said Carrion has been distraught since the incident nearly two months ago and has been on suicide watch.
He would like for her to make bail so she can seek counseling.
