Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The new school year is upon us.
Classes start on Monday and for some parents that means making a last minute dash to get school supplies.
Mother of three Liza Linderman does all of her back-to-school shopping the weekend before and the weekend after school starts.
"That way they don't have to bring everything on the first day," explained Linderman. "I mean they get the necessity stuff for the first day but then afterwords we'll get little bags."
Other parents have different back to school shopping strategies, like Ibis Lopez who spreads it out over the summer.
"Back in July we did the uniform shopping, we spent like 300 dollars, right now we'll probably spend another hundred, close to 500 total but it's three kids," said Lopez.
Target associates said the last weekend before school is their busiest.
"It has absolutely been crazy, you know, we have a lot of people, a lot of parents, a lot of kids," said Target Executive Team Leader, Felipe Martinez. "I've heard scared and excited all at the same time but it is definitely a very busy time.
Fourth grader Alexandra Lopez is definitely excited. "I get to meet new friends, I get to learn more about math, I really like math, multiplication is my favorite."
Her father, Ibis Lopez is just as excited, "It's like mutual enjoyment, they're happy they're gone and we're happy they're leaving."
Sending a student back to school isn't cheap, parents who spoke with Action News said they spend about $100 per child.
