Arrest made following fatal shooting on Harris Avenue
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police have arrested the suspect in a recent fatal shooting.
On April 21 at approximately 7:25 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on the 1500 block of East Harris Avenue to investigate multiple reports of shots fired.
Arriving officers located an adult male lying on the ground within the complex suffering an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to UMC Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation indicated the victim and three other males were engaged in a narcotics transaction when a verbal altercation took place.
Shots were fired and two of the males left the scene in a vehicle.
Detectives located the suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Johnathan Perez, at a residence in the 2200 block of Constantine Avenue, and he was taken into custody.
Perez was transported to the Clark County Detention Center and faces charges of first degree murder, own/possess a gun by prohibited person and discharge a gun within a structure.
According to the police report, the victim was identified as Jason Puckett.
