Another UMC Quick Care location to close its doors Saturday

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- UMC Quick Care on Boulder Highway saw some of its last patients on Friday.

"I'm tired of switching doctors and switching offices, so I'm kind of disappointed," patient Monique Henderson said.

Disappointed patients read the blue sign on the door that said the facility will close at the end of the business day on May 31.

"I've been coming here for years and it's convenient, I only live about two miles away," patient Larry Olson said. "Now I have to switch and go to the other side of town."

The two nearest locations are about five miles away on Nellis and Charleston or Marks and Sunset.

Back in April, patients and employees pleaded with the UMC board to keep the clinics open.

Loretta Davis said the Boulder Highway location was the only place she could access in her motorized chair, "There is no way I can get on a bus with my scooter because of how big it is."

UMC made the decision to close three Quick Care locations because of a multi-million dollar budget deficit. The clinics were chose because the locations are less busy than others.

"They are good in here, they are quick in here, and they help you," patient Ellis Pashon said of the Boulder Highway location.

Instead of switching doctors, some patients are willing to make the extra trip to stick with their physicians.

"I'm going to follow him to Nellis Quick Care," Henderson said. "I'm not going to go anywhere else because I'm comfortable with him."

The Quick Care location on Craig Road has already closed and the location in Laughlin was supposed to close at the end of May, but was granted a 30-day extension and will close in June.
