Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A shooting left a 49-year-old Henderson man dead after breaking into his girlfriend's apartment around 1:50 a.m. on Sunday.

The man is said to have gotten into an argument with his estranged girlfriend while they were at a party.

The woman dropped him off at his home and returned to her apartment on Green Valley Parkway near Warm Springs Road.

The woman called a male friend to come over because she was fearful that her boyfriend was going to show up.

The boyfriend showed up and proceeded to kick the front door down, and ultimately came in through the window.

The male friend told the boyfriend to leave and warned him that he was armed.

When the boyfriend wouldn't, the male friend fired several shots striking and killing him.

The male friend is not currently in custody as detectives believe he poses no real threat to the community or will flee.

Both the male friend and the woman are cooperating with detectives.

The name of the deceased boyfriend has not been released.
