Father of six year old hit by runaway driver on Halloween speaks out

By Stacey Gualandi. CREATED Nov 1, 2013

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Tears stream down Tiffany Ward's face as she fears for her daughter Brazyl.  In a matter of seconds the 6 year old went from a Power Ranger trick or treating to an innocent girl fighting for her life.

"They are trying to keep her stable. She did suffer many injuries, most concerning her brain. That's where the fight begins right there," said her father Brandon Ward.

Her father Brandon said Brazyl is now in a medically-induced coma at University Medical Center after police said the driver of a silver or grey 4-door sedan hit her Halloween night.

Right before, her father said Brazyl made a comment how this was the "best Halloween ever" and that she was so happy.

Brandon said the car accelerated toward his family as they were crossing Peace Way near Tenaya.

"We heard a loud bang; the car slows down and comes to a stop. My initial reaction was to run to the vehicle but changed as I saw my daughter on the ground injured," said Brandon.

He immediately started CPR. The driver is still at large.

Brazyl had just won an award for student of the week, and she got all A's on her progress report, according to her father, "It's so hurtful for something to happen to a person who is so beautiful."

All night long, people have been paying tribute near where she was hit.

"It just shows that there are people who really do care," said Amanda Ferguson who lives nearby.

If the man who hit his daughter is watching, Brandon said he would tell him, "You know what the right thing is to do. This is something you have to live with. Turn yourself in or get caught."

The Ward family said faith will guide them, as their little Power Ranger continues to fight.
