Dozens of residents still evacuated after thunderstorm
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- After Friday's storm, 27 residents of the Atrium Gardens Condos on the eastside of the Valley had to spend the night in a Red Cross shelter.
The shelter is set up at Desert Pines High School.
The high winds and rain caused around 15 trees in the complex to come crashing down into cars and homes. Power and gas lines were destroyed.
"It was quick and it was dangerous," said resident Carl Brookins.
On Saturday, workers were trying to clear the debris and trees.
NV Energy is also working to restore power but cannot give an estimated time in which in may be back on.
Southwest Gas told Action News they likely won't start working on restoring the gas until Monday, when more of the trees have been removed.
The Red Cross shelter will keep its accommodations in place until the residents are safe to return home.
