Bison Fire in Douglas County grows to 1,400 acres
MINDEN, Nev. (AP) -- The Bison Fire burning in Pine Nut Mountains in Douglas County has grown to 1,400 acres or about two square miles.
According to the Douglas County sheriff's office, about 350 firefighters are working the fire. Containment was estimated at 20 percent as of midday Friday. Firefighting efforts also include a heavy air attack, with three helicopters and five single engine planes making aerial drops.
No structures have been lost and none are immediately threatened.
Winds are pushing the fire to the north and northeast.
The Bison Fire is believed to have been sparked by lightning Thursday afternoon.
