New Las Vegas pool holds groundbreaking ceremony
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It was groundbreaking day on Tuesday for the new Garside Pool on Torrey Pines near Alta.
The old pool was actually built in 1971, but has been closed for more than a year because the city ran out of money to maintain it.
However, officials were able to find cash left over from other projects, and are now putting it toward a new pool.
Once complete, there will be a kiddie pool and a heated four-lane lap pool with diving boards. There will also be two 19-foot high water slides and much more.
In the end, the project will cost the city $8.1 million.
The pool is expected to open by June of next year.
