Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Clark County officials and Las Vegas police were called to the scene of a near-drowning on Saturday.

It happened around 11:15 a.m. at a home on Wendy Lane, near Lamb Boulevard and Alexander Road.

Authorities told Action News a 16-year-old boy was found unresponsive in a backyard pool. It's unknown how long he was in the water.

"He's a lot smaller for his age, you wouldn't be able to guess his age, he's helpless," said one neighbor.

"He can't walk, he can't talk, he can't even feed himself," added another.

CPR was performed before fire crews arrived. The boy was transported to UMC, where he is now on life support.

Las Vegas police said the boy has special needs.

They also said they're looking at this situation as a possible case of abuse and neglect, and homicide detectives could be investigating if the teen does not survive.

Action News will post more information as it becomes available.
