False story about gun shakes up Carson City school
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Authorities have arrested a 12-year-old boy accused of fabricating a story about a gun that shook up a Carson City middle school.
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said his office was notified of a violent threat at Carson Middle School about 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Furlong says the student reported that two boys in a bathroom had been loading a gun and told him they'd shoot him if he said anything.
School officials immediately locked down the school, and 60 or 70 law enforcement officials responded to the scene.
Furlong says officers determined the boy had made up the story, and he was taken to a juvenile detention center on suspicion of filing a false report.
Authorities say students and parents were visibly upset after the scare, but nobody was injured.
