Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The family of six-year-old Censere Mosly-Wedermyer is speaking out about the tragic accident that claimed the little girl's life.

Police say Censere was accidentally dragged and ran over by her grandfather's car as he was pulling away from her home in the southwest valley.

It happened Tuesday in a neighborhood just south of Blue Diamond Road and Durango Drive.

According to family, Censere's grandfather was backing out of the driveway when Censere ran after him and tried to get in the car to go with him. But he never saw or heard her.

Police believe Censere grabbed on to a door handle, but lost her grip and fell underneath the car.

"He didn't know she was on the side of the door," said Censere's uncle, Michael Gant. "Once he realized what happened, it was too late. She was taking her last couple of breaths."

Gant says Censere and her grandfather were very close.

"He's blaming himself. I'm trying not to leave him alone. I don't know if he'll ever get over this," Gant said.

A memorial of flowers, candles, stuffed animals, personalized notes and photos now stands outside Censere's home.

Her family says the six-year-old had a huge heart and lots of energy. Her favorite color was purple and she loved playing football. She was in kindergarten at Steele Elementary School.

"She was always smiling," Gant said. "She was always energetic. She was stubborn too. We loved her so much."

Censere's grandfather is not facing any charges. Police say it was simply a mistake with horrible consequences.

A car wash to benefit Censere and her family will be held this Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. t the Del Taco on Sahara near Jones. That's in the Burlington Coat Factory parking lot.

Also, an account has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank to help the family with funeral expenses.
