Ousted assemblyman Steven Brooks arrested in California
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Steven Brooks, the first assemblyman to be expelled from the Nevada State Legislature, has been arrested again.
Brooks, age 41, was arrested just before 7 p.m. Thursday night on Interstate 15 near Stoddard Wells Road by the Barstow Police Department.
It happened just hours after the vote to expel him took place in Carson City.
The arrest took place after a high-speed chase involving several law enforcement agencies.
A video posted on YouTube of an arrest show police officers pulling a man out of a SUV and appearing to hit him several times before placing him under arrest (WARNING: the video contains strong and potentially offensive language).
It is believed that the man in the video is Steven Brooks but it has not been confirmed.
Brooks is currently in custody at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. His bail has been set at $100,000.
This is the third time that Brooks has been arrested since January. Brooks was expelled on Thursday from the Nevada state legislature because assembly members were concerned for their safety.
