Fire at vacant house on Melody Lane may have been set intentionally
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas firefighters responded to a house fire at about 6:32 p.m. Wednesday on the corner of Valley Drive and Melody Lane.
According to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, the house was fully involved upon arrival with flames coming from the roof.
The house is located on an island of unincorporated Clark County, which consists of older homes. The development also has older and smaller fire hydrants, which are considered insufficient by today's standards.
Firefighters had to lay long stretches of fire hoses to get adequate water to the fire. The fire was brought under control in 15 minutes.
During the fire, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a call about a home invasion in the area.
Police were able to apprehend two adults and one juvenile. Neighbors later told police that the same three individuals had been seen running out the front door of the vacant house before it caught fire.
This was actually the second fire at the house. It sustained heavy damage during a previous fire on Dec. 30, 2012.
Both incidents are currently under investigation.
