Matt Kenseth wins Kobalt Tools 400 in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- NASCAR fans packed the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday to catch the action of the Kobalt Tools 400.
Matt Kenseth (Car No. 20) won Sunday's race.
The day started without a hitch, even though foul weather on Friday caused for qualifying and practices to be canceled.
Instead, Sunday's lineup was determined by a point system.
At around 12:20 p.m. the race cars took off with Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne battling for the lead most of the afternoon.
But in the end, it was Kenseth who won after taking only fuel in a late pit stop that propelled him into first.
It was not a bad win for the now 41-year-old, since Sunday was his birthday.
"Maybe it will be my birthday next Sunday. You want to have them more often then. I was trying to avoid the subject of my birthday all week because the number says I'm getting older. I'll definitely enjoy the rest of the day," said Kenseth.
This was the third win for Kenseth in Las Vegas.
He now heads to Bristol, TN, for next Sunday's race.
