Memorial fund set up for family of slain taxi cab driver
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- As Desert Cab driver Michael Boldon Sr.'s family struggles to cope with a tremendous loss, many in the community are coming forward to help them get through this difficult time.
Alan Waxler is Michael Boldon Jr.'s boss at A-W-G Ambassador Limousine, right across the street from Desert Cab.
He describes Boldon's son, in words used this week, to describe his driver's late father.
Waxler says, "He's been here a long time, and he's just a great, great guy. He works hard. He's always been stand up, and so we felt it was appropriate for us to stand up for him."
Waxler says both transportation company families are still reeling in shock from the shooting and fiery explosion that claims Boldon Sr's life; but he says, they are putting aside their own sorrow to set up a fund to give the Boldon family support.
Waxler says, "I think this is a great way to help him and his family get through some difficult, obviously some very difficult times. But, more importantly, the financial impact it will have in the coming months."
Waxler says taxi cab and limousine drivers are saddened by the tragedy; but not afraid. He says they see the deadly explosion that killed Boldon Sr. and his passenger, as a terrible, random act.
He says, "Most of the operators, we all have cameras in the car and things so we can protect them. This is a very unfortunate situation, and we just want to support Michael."
Waxler is calling on Southern Nevadans to do what they always do; help someone else in need.
The Michael Boldon fund is set up through Wells Fargo Bank. The account number is 4861-505-486.
