Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Three people are dead and at least four people are injured Thursday morning after a shooting on the Las Vegas Strip.

The incident began shortly before 4:20 a.m. Thursday.

According to Sgt. John Sheahan of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, two cars were traveling northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard when someone in a black Range Rover began firing on a Maserati.

The Maserati then crashed into a taxi at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road and the taxi burst into flames.

At least three other vehicles were also involved in the collision after the shooting. The driver of the Maserati, the taxi driver and a passenger in the taxi are deceased.

The driver of the Maserati was killed by gunfire.

The passenger of the Maserati and three other people were taken to University Medical Center. According to a hospital spokesperson Danita Cohen, three people were treated and released and one person is still being treated. That person's condition is not known.

It is not believed that anyone in the Maserati returned fire.

LVMPD is still looking for the other vehicle. It is described as a black Range Rover with tinted windows and black rims. It was also said that the Range Rover has paper dealer plates.

The taxi involved in the incident belongs to Desert Cab.

It is not known what led to the shooting. The intersection at Flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard is expected to be closed for several hours.

This is the third violent incident on the Strip this month. Two people were wounded during a shooting at a parking garage near a movie theater on the Strip on Feb. 6 and a man was stabbed in an elevator at Mandalay Bay on Feb. 16.
