Thousands attend Rocky Mountain Gun Show

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Here in Las Vegas, gun enthusiasts gathered at the South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa for a gun show.

What made this unusual was that promoters saw record numbers of attendees.

Promoters said the line started as early as 3 a.m. Saturday. By the time doors opened at 10 a.m., an estimated 10,000 to 15,000 people bought tickets. That was just the first long line many stood in; the second was the line for ammunition.

Vendors of course loved the large crowd, and promoters said the mad dash for guns and ammo was in response to Washington wanting to create stricter gun control.

"It's going away. Try to find it in any other store, any gun shop in this town, outside of this town, Walmart, every body's dry," said Chris Palminteri who came looking for ammo.

The Rocky Mountain Gun Show has one more day to go at the South Point, and while the amount of ammo sales was limited Saturday, Sunday there won't be.

Vendors have 4 semi-trailers of ammunition for sale.
