Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas' own professional baseball player Bryce Harper will make an appearance Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Findlay Toyota, 7733 Eastgate Road, Henderson.
The number 1 draft pick is coming off a stellar rookie season in which he was named the 2012 Rookie of the Year playing for the National League Washington Nationals.
Harper will participate in a Q&A session and will make a check presentation to a local charity.
There will be commemorative T-shirts available and there will be a raffle held to win signed merchandise.
There will also be free hamburgers and hotdogs for those who attend.
Proceeds from the event will benefit The Miracle League of Las Vegas, a program that provides an opportunity for children of all ages with cognitive and/or physical challenges to play baseball.
Space for the event is limited. Those who wish to attend should register at Findlaytoyota.com.
Harper attended Las Vegas High School but earned his General Educational Development in 2009 after his sophomore year so that he could begin his professional baseball career earlier.
For the 2010 college season, 17-year-old Harper enrolled at the College of Southern Nevada. While he was there, he hit a record 31 home runs and was named the 2010 Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the year.
Harper was drafter by the Washington Nationals in 2010.
