Rally held to support new immigration legislation
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A rally was held Wednesday to drive home points made by President Obama during his speech at Del Sol High School.
Mi Familia Vota was joined by several other activist groups to urge Congress to approve comprehensive legislation.
Local supporters said they were encouraged by what the President had to say, but more needs to be done.
"Our immigration policies are out of date," said Leo Murrieta, state director of Mi Familia Vota. "They don't reflect the America of today. we ask that Congress and our president move swiftly to ensure that no more families are separated. to ensure that our children have a future."
Latino voters made up 19 percent of the electorate in Nevada during the November elections.
