Community remembering slain 10-year-old girl
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Friends and neighbors have created a memorial in honor of 10-year-old Jade Morris near the spot where her body was discovered Thursday afternoon.
There are teddy bears and candles and it shows the emotional toll that this case is taking on the community.
Wyatt Fewins is one of those affected. He says that he became friends with Jade Morris about a year ago.
He took classes with her at Wasden Elementary School.
People have been dropping off items for the memorial throughout the day.
Family members say that Jade was bright and outgoing and that she had a great smile.
Several fundraisers are planned for this weekend, to support Jade's family.
Saturday morning, the North Las Vegas Silvercats Football Team will be raising money.
They'll be selling 50/50 tickets at the Chevron on MLK and Cheyenne. The fundraiser starts at 9:30 a.m.
Also, a couple of local motorcycle clubs are planning to raise money to help pay for Jade's funeral.
The Las Vegas Ruff Ryders and Las Vegas Deuces are holding a donation car and bike wash. That's Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at 814 West Bonanza Road, near H Street.
