Gang member arrested in Las Vegas after violent rampage
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A gang member, who's no stranger to trouble in Las Vegas, is in jail.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police found him after they say he went on a violent rampage for revenge.
Being behind bars is nothing new for Johneil Janay Harris, who served time in state prison years ago. At nearly 60-years-old, police say he has proven he's a lifelong criminal.
Detective Breck Hodson, with Metro's Gang Unit, says Harris is violent.
According to investigators, after Harris didn't get the drugs he paid for and was promised, he searched out his 19-year-old dealer for payback.
That 19-year-old is also a gang member, with a lengthy criminal record, who police say was ripping off some of his older customers.
Harris found the teen on the basketball court, near Doolittle Avenue and J Street, and took action.
"Mr. Harris proceeded to go back inside his residence. Grab a steak knife, walk back out on the basketball court, stabbed the victim in the left side. Collapsed his lung, then stabbed him in his right arm before the victim was able to flee the area," said Detective Hodson.
The 19-year-old is still being treated at the hospital for his stab wounds.
Responding officers found Harris sitting in his backyard, watching the basketball court. That's where they arrested him.
Now they say he's likely off our streets for good.
