Firefighters called to large fire apartment on Tropicana
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Clark County Fire Department was called to the scene of a two-alarm fire Sunday evening.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Sonoma Hills Apartment complex at 5100 East Tropicana Avenue, near South Nellis Boulevard.
When crews arrived, smoke and flames were showing from the balcony of a second floor apartment. Firefighters evacuated the eight-unit building.
Two families were displaced and two units were destroyed.
Damage is estimated at $150,000.
One occupant sustained minor injuries but wasn't taken to the hospital.
CCFD investigators determined the cause of the fire was smoking materials (cigarette ashes) being discarded improperly on the patio.
