Clark County assistant DA gets Raggio award
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Clark County Assistant District Attorney Chris Owens is being honored by his colleagues for contributions to the legal justice system.
Owens is the recipient of the 2012 William J. Raggio Award, named after the late state senator and former Washoe County district attorney.
The award is presented annually by the Nevada Advisory Council for Prosecuting Attorneys.
In announcing the award Wednesday, Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto praised Owens for his collaboration with other law enforcement agencies.
Owens graduated from Brigham Young University in 1977 and received his law degree from McGeorge Law School in 1981.
He joined the Clark County DA's office soon after, where he has served as law enforcement liaison and in special prosecutions of gang, career criminal and capital crimes offenders.
